Election to Phi Beta Kappa recognizes superior scholastic
achievement in the liberal arts and sciences. Phi Beta
Kappa's core values -- intellectual honesty, broad
interests, tolerance, understanding, and the growth of the
spirit as well as the mind -- are even more critical today
than they were in 1776 when Phi Beta Kappa was founded.
In the Puget Sound community, our association encourages and
supports excellence in education through a very active
awards and recognition program as well as a variety of
member activities. Our annual book awards and scholarships
are dedicated to acknowledging the accomplishments of
outstanding students, while our Pathfinder Awards recognize
extraordinary leaders in promoting high quality learning.
The activities are designed to provide continued learning
experiences and fellowship for members.
Founded on January 22, 1953, our association is open to all
Phi Beta Kappa members elected by any chapter. Currently we
have about 380 members.
Please note that membership dues/contributions to the Puget Sound Association of Phi Beta Kappa are separate from contributions to your college chapter or to the national Phi Beta Kappa Society.
